COURSE SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

Virtual Instructor-Led Training, or VILT, is training that is delivered through virtual environment when the instructor and learner are in separate locations. A virtual learning environment aims to replicate traditional face-to-face trainings to deliver targeted training outcomes. It is important to prepare a conducive VILT environment to make the online training experience effective and engaging to participants. Organizations should explore and seize the opportunity to incorporate VILT as a part of company-wide training strategy for professional development, upskilling and reskilling trainings, refresher courses and employee onboarding. Some of the advantages of conducting VILT include reduce cost, convenience, modular design training content, and ability to increase capacity.

This course will introduce participants to VILT and how it could be conducted by any organizations. Throughout this course, participants will be guided to how to prepare for VILT that include three main components which are: (1) Using tools and technologies to preparing byte size content and materials for VILT, (2) Using synchronous platform to deliver interactive and engaging VILT, and (3) Preparing assessments to monitor the effectiveness of the VILT to participants.
