COURSE SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION
High impact publication is considered as one of the best ways for engineers, researchers as well as consultants to contribute and make awareness to the society. It is extremely important for working engineers / consultants to know the technical and successful path towards writing high impact paper publication. Having a good paper published in high impact journals, will make the company/organization to achieve its goals faster. This course is aimed to guide the participants in writing technical papers. It will be through learning the state-of-the-art concepts on how to build skills on creating good technical papers, crafting the literature writing effectively, and getting the paper published in high impact journals.

1. Professor Ir Dr Mohd Shahir Liew (UTP)
Professor Shahir aspires for a better tomorrow in Malaysia through the approach of sustained growth in niche capabilities and high-end knowledge areas. He believes that these are crucial for the country to reach developed nation status and strongly advocates for the scientific and engineering community to always add cutting edge dimensions to their set of capabilities and competencies.
Professor Shahir throughout his career has spearheaded several strategic initiatives in the area of competency development including being one of the pioneering groups in Malaysia to develop wind engineering competencies and was the Chairman of the National Standards MS1553 Wind Code in 1999. In this time in the Malaysian Oil and Gas Services Council (MOGSC), he has served as the Chairman of the Competency and Training Working Group identifying critical industry gaps in the oil and gas industry. His continued service as the Honourary Secretary has also seen his leading participation in the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) for the National Occupational Skill Standard (NOSS) and Sectorial Training Committee (STC-17). He is also the current Fellow of the Energy Institute Malaysia and is closely overlooking the development of niche professional accreditation tracks in Malaysia for engineers in the energy sector.
Prof Ir Dr Shahir Liew graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.Sc in Civil Engineering and Ph.D in Structural Dynamics. He is a Professional Engineer with the State of Texas and an Asean Engineer. In 2016, he became a Fellow Chartered Engineer (UK). After spending 23 years in the industry as consulting professional engineer in the USA and Asian countries, he joined UTP in 2009 as an Associate Professor. He has been the Head of Offshore Engineering Center since 2011, winning approximately RM8.5m research grants. He is currently active in engaging the industries, including Production Sharing Contractors and Tier 2 oil and gas companies. He has held several exco positions, nationally and internationally, with the NGOs and is instrumental in developing young engineers and researchers. He is committed to ensure the relevance of research and its application for the benefit of the industry and society as a whole.
Dr. Kamaluddeen Usman Danyaro is a Postdoctoral Researcher and Data Engineer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Perak, Malaysia. His current research area is Big Data and Machine Learning in the oil and gas sector. He received his PhD from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, master’s degree in Business Information Technology from Northumbria University at Newcastle, UK and a bachelor's degree in Mathematical Science from Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria.
Dr. Kamaluddeen had 6 years of experience in industry and over 5 years of research & academic experience in the field of data science, computer networking and project management. He is a MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA), MikroTik Certified Routing Engineer (MTCRE), an IEEE member and Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) professional member. He has also published more than twenty peer reviewed journals and conference papers. He is a reviewer in many conferences and Journals.
Dr. Kamaluddeen Usman has been leading and monitoring postgraduate research students in Offshore Engineering Centre (OEC), Institute of Autonomous System (IAS), UTP. He has written and won a number of academic and industrial research grants and is ardently promoting collaborations between industry-academic institutions. He is actively passionate in working with oil and gas sector, especially in areas related to data integration.
