COURSE SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION
High – rise buildings (Towers) investment
projects represent a component of the country's economic power & a sign of
advantage. Many countries have sought to achieve their progress by encouraging
comprehensive plans to establish high-rise investment projects to prove their
economic power & prestige. Such cities as (Hong Kong, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar,
others). Where financing such projects is an essential element for its success.
Large & varying investments are directed after the preparation of severe
feasibility studies to ensure that such projects achieve the target gain at the
investors' state & economic level. Such studies are made through accurately
studying the planning, architectural, financial, and marketing aspects. This is
done under specific laws & regulations governing all investment stages with
appropriate guarantees to promote investors & capitals. This short lecture
will give an insight into the future of tall buildings in the progressing world
and its impacts on job prospects, particularly for young graduates.

Professor Dr Nasir Shafiq from Civil & Environmental Engineering Department,Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Perak. Prof Nasir have qualification Ph.D. in Built Concrete Structures from University of Leeds, UK Malaysia, M.Sc. in Structural Engineering from Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand, and Bachelor Engineering (1st Class) Civil Engineering from NED University, Karachi Pakistan.Area of expertise in Structural Engineering, Materials and sustainability, Low carbon building materials and technology, Decision Support Systems, Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis, Green Building Design, Structural Retrofitting, Building Information Modelling, Sustainable Cities and Fire Resistant Concrete Structures. Prof Nasir have membership in Member American Concrete Institute, USA, Member American Society of Civil Engineers, Member (Life), Board of Engineers Malaysia, Member and PE (Life) Pakistan Engineering Council and Life Member Concrete Society of Malaysia.
