COURSE SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

This two-day course presents best practices for effective communication in the workplace. The program is useful for individuals looking to communicate effectively and persuasively in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication. Participants will leave with a better understanding of communication and its importance to personal and organizational success.

  • Fundamentals of communication (verbal and non-verbal).
  • Effective communication principles (through styles, clarity, conciseness).

OUR TRAINERS



1. Dr. Roselind Wan (UTP)

Dr Roselind Wan is a Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). Prior to joining the university in 2008, she managed State Skills Development Centers where her last post was as the General Manager of Perak Entrepreneur and Skills Development Center (PESDC) in Perak. In UTP, she teaches Academic Writing and Professional Communication Skills. Her PHD study which she completed in UTP has led her to explore research interests in Anthropological Linguistics and Language and Culture of Indigenous communities. Roselind was a recipient of the prestigious Endeavour Research Fellowship awarded by the Australian Government in 2016 and was attached to the School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics, Australian National University. As one of the few scholars from the Indigenous Kayan community, she hopes to provide an insider voice as well as raise awareness of potential threats on Indigenous languages in Borneo.   
 


2. Dr. Chong Su Li (UTP) 

Chong Su Li is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Management and Humanities, Institute of Self Sustainable Building, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia. She is also Head of UTP’s University Social Responsibility (Education Pillar). She obtained an MPhil and a PhD in Education from University of Cambridge, UK where she was the recipient of St. Edmund’s College Dean’s Award (2014). Her research interests are in literacy and language education, particularly in the intersections of multilingualism, multimodality and meaning-making.
