CONTENT SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION
Triaxial test is known to be the most versatile test to predict the soil behaviour in terms of its strength. This course is an introductory course to understand about the basic principles of Triaxial Test and the engineering parameters involved in this test. The analysis and interpretation of the strength of soils will be also be covered in this course to understand how the soils behave upon loading. Another important aspect in this test is describing the stress state of soil using the concept of stress path which will also be covered in this course briefly.

Niraku Rosmawati Ahmad is a Lecturer in Civil & Environmental Engineering Department of Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. She obtained her Master of Science in Soil Mechanics, Imperial College London (2004) and Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) in Civil Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (2001). She specializes in the field of geotechnical engineering and geomechanics as well as having some research interest in computational mechanics in these areas.
