INTRODUCTION
Simulation and Optimization Methods (SOM) is one of the most powerful decision-making tools. SOM is the scientific approach to modelling in aid of decision-making and uses mathematical techniques to tackle real-life decision problems. Although SOM is hard believed as good tool for decision making but it has successfully applied in industrial sector. Most of the industrial problems are too complex and its need most recent computer program to solve the matters.
This course covers a number of quantitative methods including decision analysis, linear programming, transportation, assignment, CPM/PERT and inventory management. In addition this course explains how the methods work and how they can be applied and interpreted by the decision maker. The emphasis is on application of the methods rather than pure mathematics per say.Introduction
Decision Theory
A) Decision Environments – risk & uncertainty, Payoff table, Regret table.
B) Decision making under uncertainty
Linear Programming (LP)
Transportation and Assignment Models
Inventory Control Models
Project Management – PERT/CPM
Simulation
