INTRODUCTION
The main objective of this course is to develop understanding on the fundamental principles in coastal engineering. This course introduces the fundamental principles on coastal engineering covering wave theories, wave transformations, design wave specifications, tides, currents, nearshore sediment transports and coastal morphology. This course involves interactive discussions, sharing of exciting examples and case studies for enhanced understanding and appreciation towards the subject.

Teh Hee Min (UTP)
Hee Min Teh was born in Sungai Siput Utara, Perak, Malaysia. He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering in 2000. He further pursued a Master’s degree in coastal and maritime engineering and graduated from the same university in 2003. He was then awarded a PhD in coastal engineering from the University of Edinburgh in 2013. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. His main research interests are hydrodynamics of coastal structures, wave and storm surge modelling, renewable wave energy and physical modeling. Dr. Teh secured 13 international, national and internal research grants amounting to a total of about RM1.27 million. He owns an IP of a floating breakwater design that won him several international awards. He published more than 60 journals and conference articles. He is also the reviewers of a number of international journals and research proposals. He is the IMarEST Chartered Engineer since 2013.

3. Associate Professor Dr Muhammad Raza Ul-Mustafa (UTP)
Dr Muhammad Raza Ul Mustafa is an Associate Professor at Civil & Environmental Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. He has over 10 years of working experience as an academician, researcher, and channel design engineer. His expertise includes hydrological modelling, water quality, sediment transport, soil erosion management practices, flood protection works and channel design. He has authored 77 papers indexed in several databases including the ISI and Scopus indexed journals and proceeding (Scopus ORCID: 0000-0002-1763-4152) with over 47.32 cumulative ISI impact factor. He has secured 17 research grants from various agencies in Malaysia, which makes a total sum of approx. 1.548 million MYR. He has graduated 6 PhD students and 3 MSc students by research. He has won several awards including 7 Gold, 6 Silver, 5 Bronze, best paper, best presenter, best poster and outstanding researcher award at university, national and international research platforms. In addition to the academic and researcher positions, he has lead several taskforces and involved in committees / boards / teams / activities such as editorial board of journals, editor of conference proceedings, scientific advisory board, technical committees, Q1/Q2 journals reviewer, keynote speaker, PhD/MSc thesis examiner, chairman, trainer, organizer, facilitator, panel of judges in research exhibitions etc.
