COURSE SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

The course provides the fundamental analysis and understanding on RF multiport modules such as filter, power divider, and coupler. The course also provides a very important topic on impedance matching network in order to obtain a maximum RF system performance.

OUR TRAINERS



1. Dr Soeung Socheatra 

Dr Soeung Socheatra was born in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, in 1986. He received his B.Eng. (Honors) degree in Electrical and Electronic, major in Computer System Architecture in 2010 from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. He completed his MSc degrees by research on PCB testing based on Eddy current from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia in 2013. He did his PhD degree by research in RF Microwave Engineering at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia from 2014-2018. He worked as a research officer under project “Wireless Communication using Evaporation Duct (WiDuct)” with the responsibility to RF frontend design, implementation and testing. Currently, he works as a lecturer in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in electrical and electronic engineering department. His research interests include passive filter design and synthesis on both lossless and lossy microwave filter, and computer-aided tuning and optimisation techniques. He is currently an IEEE, MTT member, committee member of IEEE ED/MTT/SSC Penang Chapter, Malaysia.




2. Dr Cheab Sovuthy 

Dr Cheab Sovuthy (M'15) received the B.Eng. degree (Hons.) in electrical and electronic engineering majoring in communication systems, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in microwave engineering from the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), in 2010, 2012, and 2015, respectively. He received the Scholarship Award from PETRONAS for B.Eng. degree. During his Ph.D. studies, he had also been involved in RFID design project for oil and gas applications. He has been a Lecturer with the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, UTP, since 2016 teaching Electromagnetic Theory, Communication Systems, and Microwave/RF related subjects. In terms of research, he has secured many grant projects with a total worth of more than half a million Ringgit Malaysia including those from Malaysia government and PETRONAS. He has filed four patents with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) on microwave filters and published various journals including the IEEE MICROWAVE ANDWIRELESS COMPONENTS LETTERS. His current research interests include waveguide and dielectric filters and the passive filter miniaturization techniques. Dr Cheab has been the Executive Committee Member of the IEEE ED/MTT/SSC Penang Chapter, since 2016, and has been recently elected as the secretary of the Chapter for 2021 to 2022 term. He served as the MTT Technical Chair of IMESS 2019 and currently he is the Publication Chair of ICIAS 2020 conference. He is also has been appointed as a Chapter Liaison for the IEEE Malaysia AP/MTT/EMC Joint Chapter for the years 2019 and 2020. Dr Cheab is also a member of Board of Engineering Malaysia (BEM).
