COURSE SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION
Often report writing at university is presented as deceptively simple – all you need to do is ensure you follow the required report structure and write clearly and concisely. But we know this is not as straightforward as it seems; although reports must be easy to read, this does not necessarily make them easy to write. In addition, a report in one discipline may differ from a report in another discipline although the language may be the same! Also expectations for a written report may differ. As writing a good report takes time, you need to know what the purpose is, who you are writing for and the kind of research that you are reporting.
The key is to understand the purpose of report writing rather than just what goes in each section. This course aims to help audience develop good reort writing priciples as the ability to write good reports will stay with you even after you have left university. Good report writing skills will help you communicate well in whichever career you choose.
