Dr. Chong Su Li PhD (Cambridge University, UK) MPhil (Cambridge University, UK), MA Lit. (UM) B.Ed. TESL (UM) Qualitative Research Association Malaysia (QRAM) - Life member, EXCO member Senior Lecturer, Institute of Self-Sustainable Building, Department of Management and Humanities, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). Biography: In the time of her PhD studies, Su Li sought to understand the reading experience of Malaysian undergraduates in Britain, particularly in how they negotiated their multilingual and multimodal literacies. Because of her interest in understanding the human experience, Su Li’s study required her to shift from using the quantitative perspective to the qualitative research paradigm. Her research journey led her to learn about the phenomenological perspective and how this perspective can provide a useful way in which to understand readers and reading. Su Li’s academic and supererogation work in Cambridge earned her the St. Edmund’s College, Cambridge, Dean’s Award in 2014. She was also a recipient of St. Edmund’s College Cambridge’s Tutorial Award 2014 and Santander Bank’s (UK) Continuation Award 2011. Her PhD thesis was also shortlisted for the United Kingdom
