Becoming a Professional Engineer (Ir) under the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is a significant milestone that elevates an engineer’s professional standing, opening doors to career advancement, leadership roles, and industry recognition.
However, many engineers face critical challenges that hinder their progress: lack of guidance and unclear direction in preparing the documents required for the Professional Assessment Examination (PAE) application. Those aspiring Professional Engineers are often unclear about the specific requirements and processes involved. Without proper guidance, engineers may feel overwhelmed navigating the pathway to becoming Ir. Additionally, the process demands the submission of well-documented reports that reflect technical competency and engineering experience. Unfortunately, preparing these documents to meet standards can be challenging for those unfamiliar with the expected structure and content.
A key focus of the training is the detailed requirements and processes involved in applying for the PAE, from eligibility criteria to submitting applications via the MyBEM System. This ensures participants are fully equipped to navigate the technicalities of the application process.
The course also provides in-depth guidance on preparing documents, such as the Career History (Appendix PAE-1), Training and Experience Report, and Statement of Practical Experience, following BEM's outcome-based requirements. Participants will learn effective strategies for structuring these reports, including how to ethically utilising Generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT) to assist and enhance the writing process. Real-life examples, report templates, and writing tips will be shared to further support their preparation.
By the end of the training, participants will have a clear understanding of the requirements and a well-defined action plan for their applications, This course empowers engineers with the knowledge and skills to confidently pursue their Professional Engineer (Ir) title and excel in their professional journey.
