CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

Pressure Vessel Design, Inspection and Testing (PVDIT), training programs are designed for Technical Managers, Maintenance Staff, SME Owners, Design Engineer, Engineer and Technical Executives. This training is equipped with theoretical and practical on how to design, inspection and testing of unfired pressure vessel according ASME Code Section VIII Div. 1 or 2 requirements standard and API 501. Participants will also be given exposure to example of some case study on design PV using classical theory on ASME code , PV software and inspection and testing of PV.

COURSE CONTENT

Day 1 - Pressure Vessel Design

  • Introduction ASME Code
  • Type of Pressure Vessel
  • Theoretical approach of design of unfired PV
  • Case study sample design PV, using ASME code

Day 2 - Pressure Vessel Design by Rule or Formula (DBF)

  • Design by Rule or Formula by Software
  • Case study on simple of design PV using PV elite
  • Analysis on the results f PV

Day 3 - PV Inspection and Testing 

  • Design appraisal 
  • Materials Inspection at works 
  • Marking off and transfer of marks 
  • Examination of cut edges 
  • Welding procedure ยท Welding inspection 
  • NDE before heat treatment 
  • Heat treatment / stress realise 
  • Non-destructive testing after heat treatment

OUR TRAINERS

1. Associate Professor Dr. Hamdan Haji Ya (UTP)

Hamdan Haji Ya (HHYa) is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, since December 2013. Prior to that, he had more than twenty years of experience working in the industrial sector where his last position was as general manager at SIRIM Berhad, Malaysia. He earned a PhD in Impact Engineering / Applied Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering at The University of Manchester in 2006. He has written more than fifty technical paper publications. Ir. Dr. Hamdan is a professional engineer and a corporate member of the Institute of Engineers Malaysia. His research interests are in the field of impact engineering on composite materials, pressure vessel design, erosion mitigation in pipeline and energy management.

2. Dr William Pao (UTP)

Dr William Pao is a Sarawakian from Borneo Island that decided to live in Ipoh since 2011. He is teaching fourth-year elective courses specializing in Subsea Engineering and Upstream Plant Facilities at Mechanical Engineering Department, the Cluster Leader of Applied Mechanics and Instrumentation and was Adjunct Lecturer coordinator. He has been awarded research contract as Principal Investigator for more than RM1 million from Ministry of Higher Education, Yayasan UTP and industries. He collaborates closely with PETRONAS OPU and industrial partners for UG/PG student projects. Dr Pao is a regular reviewer for Q1/Q2 high impact factor JCR journals, and contributes extensively to these journals himself. He is a registered Chartered Engineer with Engineering Council, UK since 2012, and holding the professional title of MarEng and CMath from UK.

3. Ir. Syed Fadhil Syed Mohamed  (SIRIM Bhd)

Ir. Syed Fadhil Syed Mohamed is a Registered Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC) with the Board Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and a Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM). He also member Chartered Engineer (CEng) and member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers UK. Besides that, He is certified Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors (Georgia, USA) and an authorized personnel in American Petroleum Institute (API) for following scope: API 510: Authorized Inspector for In-Services Pressure Vessel API 570: Authorized Inspector for piping API 653: Authorized Inspector for Aboveground Storage Tanks API 580: Certified Risk Based Inspection Professional API 577: Certified Welding Inspection and Metallurgy Professional His work experience and passion includes ; Pressuring and Equipment inspection ; Vendor Inspection; Conformity Assessment; Fitness for Service (FFS); Assessment and Failure Investigation.
