CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

Global warming has been a worldwide alarming issue. To overcome this, many initiatives have been proposed and executed, in which renewable energy is one of these. Renewable energy (RE) was found to be a clean and abundance source of energy that can have dramatic effects to the earth positively. Sun, wind, water and even earth’s heat are some of the common natural resources used to derive the RE. Also, RE is believed to be replaceable the fossil fuels. Henceforth, some of the oil and gas companies have undertaken considerable investment into renewable energy, as the energy transition strategy. Seeing the importance of the offshore RE (ORE), and this is something new within the region. The course aimed to provide a fundamental of the ORE, and the potential of it. This course will be delivered by 3 trainers who are experts for each of the area i.e. the offshore wave and current energy, offshore wind energy and microalgae-based energy. In detail, the course will cover the fundamental of all these ORE, which inclusive of the important mechanics, design principles etc. Nevertheless, the course will ensure the participants are able to perform the basic calculation and identify the potential of the ORE.
