CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

The course is representing an intensive one day workshop on adsorption technique and its general phenomena, measurements types, analytical techniques, and applications. Adsorption is one of the dominant separation techniques utilized in oil and gas industry, especially for natural gas and flue gas pretreatment and purifications, respectively. Adsorption exerts a major role in unconventional reservoirs production and enhances recovery. In this workshop, the techniques utilized in adsorption measurements such as volumetric and gravimetric techniques are discussed; the general mathematical equations applied and experimental process will be clarified and simplified. The numerical models utilized and applied to identify and classify the adsorption isotherm and kinetic process occur during adsorption are explained. The difference between linear and non-linear models equations and how they are applied and measured is simplified and demonstrated. The EoSs and other computational methods utilized to measure the capacity and selectivity for single and binary gaseous mixtures are elucidated. Finally, the utilization of artificial intelligence and neural network for adsorption measurements and how they can be utilized to predict/simulate adsorption on porous material and the parameters can be studied is demonstrated and described.
