CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

In this course, users learn typical applications of explicit finite element simulation. Users will be able to use RADIOSS confidently on typical impact problems, including:

• How to choose Elements / Properties

• Basic Material Laws

• Defining Contact

• Tying things together

• Loading

• Validating a simulation

• Debug the model

COURSE CONTENT

  • Introduction to RADIOSS and Explicit method.
  • Element formulation : Beam, Shell and Solids.
  • Material Law and characterization.
  • Interface and contact modeling, Kinematic condition and Load definition.
  • Industry case sharing and running practical example.

1. Associate Professor Ir Dr Mokhtar Awang

He is an Associate Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering and currently, a Head of Computational Modeling Reability Engineering and Asset Management (CmREAM) under Institute of Transport Infrastructure (ITI), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. He is a Chairman of ASME Malaysia Section and was a member under Board of Engineers Malaysia (2008-2010). He holds a PhD (2007) and a MSc (1994) in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University, USA. While he obtained his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from University of Detroit Mercy, USA. He has also organized International Conference on Mechanical, Manufacturing and Process Plant Engineering (ICMMPE) from year 2015 to 2019.


2. Mr Ban Wee Eng (Altair)

More than 15 years of professional experience in CAE domainGraduated from National Taiwan University with Master of Engineering in Engineering Science and Ocean Engineering.

Currently Technical Director at Altair Engineering Malaysia. Ban Wee support Taiwan/China/ASEAN customers to setup the CAE process and standard ,also conducts training, specifically in the structural simulation domain, for customers across Taiwan/China/ASEAN and helps them to adopt simulation in their product design and development.

Prior to joining Altair, Ban Wee spent 10 years as CAE Engineer for an engineering consultant company from China and Taiwan, mainly evaluate the component and full vehicle level Durability, Crash and Strength. The products included Motorcycle, Car, ATV, Bus, Truck, Shipbuilding, etc.
