COURSE SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

The aim of this course is to provide in depth knowledge of the Neurofeedback system to research engineers, neuro therapist, faculty members, and students with latest advancements in techniques and applications. The course will provide an opportunity to understand basic of the Neurofeedback system and the importance of research in EEG-neurofeedback with latest tools in the analysis of EEG signals to provide better understanding how various mental disorders (some of mental disorder but not the least: ADHD, Stress, Depression, Epilepsy, Short-Term-Memory etc.) effect the EEG. A key aim of this course is to enable the participants to understand the EEG, detection of mental disorders with qEEG analysis tools, Neurofeedback system, latest research in Neurofeedback for different mental disorders, the Neurofeedback protocols for different therapies, the latest techniques and tools being used for Neurofeedback, and advancements in research of the neurofeedback system.  A hands-on session with latest qEEG analysis tool and Neurofeedback system will also be done to provide the participants an opportunity to understand and learn the practical knowledge of 10-20 montage, qEEG analysis, and Neurofeedback training.

1. Dr. Syed Saad Azhar Ali 

Dr. Syed Saad Azhar Ali (M’07–SM’17) received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from NED University, Karachi, Pakistan, and the master’s and doctoral degrees in nonlinear control from the King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals. He was with Air University and Iqra University prior to being engaged as Associate Professor with the Center of Intelligent Signal and Imaging Research, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. Recently, he has been involved in neurosignal processing. He has authored over 80 peer- reviewed publications, including four books/chapters. His research focus has been on intelligent control, signal processing, underwater robotics with the emphasis on image enhancement and 3-D scene reconstruction. He is the PI for several funded research projects.
