CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

The Nanotechnology in Oil and Gas course provides participants with an opportunity to learn the basics of Nanotechnology and the various types of nanomaterials that have been utilized in enhanced oil recovery in Conventional and Unconventional Reservoirs (Shale gas reservoirs).

COURSE CONTENT
  • Introduction to Nanotechnology.
  • Definition (Nanoparticles, Nanosheets, 0D, 1D, 2D & 3D).
  • Preparation (Top-Down/Bottom-Up Approaches, CVD, Milling, etc.).
  • Characterization tools (FESEM, TEM, Raman Spectra, XRD, XPS, etc.).
  • Functionalization, stabilization and modification of nanomaterials.
  • Applications (Thermal Management, Electronics, and Oil & Gas).
  • Nanotechnology in Enhance Oil Recovery (EOR) for Conventional and Unconventional Reservoirs.


OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • This course will provide the participants with strong background about Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology in general. Is will also allow them to have a deep exposure to the most recent and advanced techniques that involve nanomaterials to improve the drilling, production and EOR operations. (patents, published work and on-going projects on oil & gas applications will be presented).

1. Dr Ali Samer Muhsan (UTP)

Dr Ali Samer current position as Senior Lecturer at Mechanical Engineering Department, UTP. He had industrial experience for 3 Research Projects with PRSB/PETRONAS since 2016 until now and 1 Project with Nano-Malaysia 2013-2016. He had experience in training and consultancy services such as nanotechnology and its role in the recent and upcoming advanced engineering applications.
