INTRODUCTION
Increase in population and rapid urbanization lead to increase in impervious area as most of the natural pervious religion into highly impervious areas. As the land developments increases, it reduces the infiltration rate of stormwater runoff into ground. The infiltration rate reduction leaves much water retained on the ground surface and move in the form of stormwater runoff, resulting in increase in the runoff volume, flowrate, velocity, and amount of pollutants. Consequently, there will be deterioration in the water quality, erosion, souring and other adverse impacts in receiving stream. In other words, the living condition of human and the balance of eco-system are adversely affected. Hence, Best Management Practices of Urban Stormwater Management Manual for Malaysia (MSMA) was introduced. The goal of these stormwater management principles is to encourage new sustainable urban development related to the natural environment, such as the incorporation of the hydrological cycle into the urban system. Hence, this training is to provide an exposure on the design and implementation of several Best Management Practices (BMPs) which recommended in MSMA.
