COURSE SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION
This course describes the conceptual methodology that is being adopted to perform Structural Integrity Assessment of Civil and Structural Assets subjected to Process Safety incidents. The assessment provides the assurance on reliability, integrity and safety of C&S assets to support for continuous and safe operation and production of petrochemical plant. The course will also address the design elements of C&S assets that provide barriers to Process Safety hazards and minimize impact of incident. The assessment will be divided into three phases i) Preliminary Inspection, ii) Detailed Assessment and iii) Structural Rectification. General Visual Inspection technique is used to identify the extend of structural damages, post-incident immediate hazards, and the scoping of structural rectification that includes, materials repair, structural strengthening, partial and full replacement, and the requirement of destructive and non-destructive tests, structural survey and monitoring. In performing the above assessment, technical acceptance criteria will be discussed based on acceptable structural tolerance, level of degradation, risk, future utilization plan etc. Several real case examples will also be shared in the course.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
Types of DT, NDT, structural survey and monitoring for the structural integrity assessment.
Technical criteria in categorizing structural repair, strengthening and replacement.
Concept of structural repair and strengthening.
