CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

Geosciences digital upskilling workforce is vital to increase efficiency in the Energy sector. The training covers an introduction about cloud computing and Geoscience knowledge applications which enable to rule new big data analytic solutions to handle geophysical and geological data at the same time.

Data Analytics applied in Geosciences will help to apply automated techniques and solutions for analytics and visualization of geology and geophysical data. Currently many O&G international companies and disciplines have embarked on the road of digital transformation. Geosciences should embrace nontechnology tools to reshape their operating and analytical landscape to increase efficiency and implement cost saving.

COURSE CONTENT

Geology & Data Science:
  • Depositional Environment Systems and Facies Analysis ยท 
  • Seismic Facies, Seismic Attributes & Seismic Stratigraphy
  • Deep Marine Sedimentary Systems

Integrated Reservoir Modelling:

  • Digital Models
Geophysics & Data Science:
  • Introduction to Seismic Data Processing & Imaging.
  • Seismic Data Analysis using MATLAB and Cloud (Commercial Software)

Machine Learning:

  • Data Science for lithology and pore fluid analysis in Rock Physics using Python
Cloud Computing:
  • Introduction to Cloud Computing
  • Data Processing, Analysis and Visualization through Cloud Computing


OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Participants will upskill theirs Data Science knowledge and increase efficiency in several tasks for Exploration and Development stages.
  • Participants will be able to understand the rules of Could computing and big data analytic solutions to handle geophysical and geological data at the same time.

OUR TRAINERS




1. Dr. Abdul Halim Abdul Latiff (UTP)

Dr Abdul Halim is currently leading the Centre for Subsurface Imaging (CSI), an oil and gas industry-oriented research centre in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). He obtained his MEng, MSc and Doctorate from Imperial College London, UTP and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) respectively with special interest in seismic technology and deep-earth seismology. His main area of expertise is in seismic processing and imaging, both for active and passive seismic (including earthquake seismology). With several years as an industry practitioner with CGG Malaysia as well as researcher and academician with UTP, Halim is on a mission to spread the knowledge in geosciences and nurturing more earth scientist for a sustainable and better future.


2. Dr Maman Hermana Husen

Maman Hermana obtained a B.Sc in Geophysics from University of Indonesia, an M.Sc in Applied Geophysics from Instiute technology of Bandung, Indonesia and a PhD in Geosciences from Univerisiti Technologi PETRONAS, Malaysia. He has more than 15 years of experience in research and as well as in Academic. He is passionate about geophysics, developing local staff, and transfer of technology. In UTP he is responsible for competency development of younger researcher and staff. Dr. Maman is an active member of many international professional organizations such as SPE, EAGE, SEG. currently, Dr. Maman is a Senior Lecturer and the Deputy Head of the Centre for Seismic Imaging (CSI), one of the best research center not only in S.E Asia but also in the world

              




3. Dr Lukman A Rahim  (UTP)

Dr Lukman is currently working as a Senior Lecture in Computer and Information Science department, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. He completed his PhD at Lancaster University. His current research interest is in formal serification, software and system modelling, and software architecture. Currently, his research is foc using in particular with adopting model-driven engineering  and  formal  verification  in cloud  computing.  Some of the projects he is working on right now are using architecture-driven modernization and model-driven engineering in deploying engineering simulation software as a cloud service, formal verification of cloud security mechanism using model checking, domain specific modelling languages for educational games. Apart from these projects, he is also involved in research projects related to system engineering and Big Data.
