CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

The fundamental understanding of reservoir fluid properties and phase behavior is important to assist the participants in estimating hydrocarbon in place and reserves, developing field development plan for hydrocarbon resources and simulating oil and gas reservoirs with commercial software.

This course is designed to introduce the participants basic understanding of reservoir fluid properties and PVT phase behavior as related to oil and gas industry. Initially the coverage will focus on thermodynamic properties and phase behavior of crude oil and natural gas. This is followed by reservoir fluids sampling, PVT laboratory experiments and PVT reports analysis and interpretation.  Practical and hands-on exercises will be given to help participants enhance their understanding of PVT experiments and reports. Coverage of advanced fluids characterization including equations of state and plus fraction characterization equips the participants with the knowledge to perform reservoir fluids modeling.  By the end of the course, participants will be able to relate PVT report with corresponding reservoir fluids behavior in order to ask the right questions and make informed decisions relating to petroleum reservoir fluids.
