INTRODUCTION
After rolling out of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in 2015 in Paris Declaration for protecting our mother planet from environmental disaster, rapid developments and industrialization may result. Therefore, implementing the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of engineering projects is becoming a legal requirement in many countries throughout the project's life cycle. In current practices, all development and investment projects initiated by the government, corporate, or private sectors must undergo a comprehensive EIA that should assess the environmental performance from feasibility or planning stage to the design, execution, operation, and end of life stages. Ecological Impact Assessments guide project owners and decision-makers to select appropriate mitigation measures that can be integrated with all life cycle phases (design, execution, operation) of a project to avoid or minimize environmental damages. Many EIA studies are being conducted on various projects (building & infrastructure, industrial, recreational, or similar). Still, many of them are not done correctly due to a lack of the required skills in many instances.
Consequently, decision-makers often have no clear idea of what type of information is needed to make rational and timely decisions when appraising projects. Furthermore, too much emphasis is usually given to data collection not enough on their analysis, interpretation, and overall environmental implications. Another major problem stems from the fact that monitoring and evaluating projects' actual ecological impacts are mostly inconspicuous. The absence of proper monitoring and evaluation is now a significant handicap for rational environmental management. Therefore, this training course is aimed to make the fundamental concept of EIA regarding philosophy, components, goals, and methodology of conducting EIA of the designated type of project.Module 1: An Introduction and Background of Environmental Impacts Assessment (EIA)
Module 2: Approaches, Principles, and Elements of EIA Good Practice
Module-3: Step-by-Step Procedure - EIA work and impact studies
