CONTENT SUMMARY
INTRODUCTION
Electromagnetics is around us, everywhere. From switching on the light, playing with our touchscreen smart phone or even working in environment full of electrical devices. It is the foundation for the technologies of electrical and electronics engineering. The whole history of electromagnetic theory sparked thanks to the human curiosity to understand atmospheric electricity, in particular lightning.
This course will explore the scientific basic understanding of EMT through the work of researchers such as Coulomb, Ampere, Faraday and Maxwell.
We will then relate these basic knowledge to EMT technologies in our current industries.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

3. Dr
Cheab Sovuthy (UTP)
Dr Cheab Sovuthy received the B.Eng. degree (Hons.) in electrical and electronic engineering majoring in communication systems, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in microwave engineering from the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), in 2010, 2012, and 2015, respectively. During his Ph.D. studies, he had also been involved in RFID design project for oil and gas applications. He has been a Lecturer with the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, UTP, since 2016. He has filed four patents with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) on microwave filters and published various journals including the IEEE MICROWAVE ANDWIRELESS COMPONENTS LETTERS. His current research interests include waveguide and dielectric filters and the passive filter miniaturization techniques. Dr Cheab has been the Executive Committee Member of the IEEE ED/MTT/SSC Penang Chapter, since 2016, and was elected as the Secretary of the IEEE International Microwave, Electron Devices and Solid-State Symposium IMESS, in 2018. He received the Scholarship Award from PETRONAS for B.Eng. degree. He is currently the MTT Technical Chair of IMESS 2019. He has also been appointed as a Chapter Liaison for the IEEE Malaysia AP/MTT/EMC Joint Chapter for the years 2019 and 2020. Dr Cheab is also a member of Board of Engineering Malaysia (BEM).
