CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

Electrical machines as part of energy conversions systems are key components and important workforce in Oil & Gas and Energy industries. Implementation of electrical machines in  Oil & Gas and Energy industries needs knowledge related to recent technologies in machine design, electronic control, automation and contemporary approach to systems performances. This program aims to upskill graduate knowledge related to the electrical machines, electronic control of drives systems, process automation and application of intelligent systems. The participants will be exposed to industry way of designing, constructing and practising the electrical machines as part of energy conversion processes in the electrical energy systems.

There are five modules that will be delivered in this program through project-based learning. All the five modules are designed in such a way that the participants will be equiped with knowledge and pratical skills from the ways how the electrical machine is designed to the ways  it is controlled and be part of an electrical energy systems,  and the way to improve the energy conversion performances.

COURSE CONTENT

Introduction to Electrical Machine Design (Rotating and Linear Machines)
  • The basic design of rotating and linear electrical machines which involves the design dimension, the open circuit fllux distribution, back emf, torque etc using analytical equations and simulation software. Overhaul and re-winding for induction motor will also be introduced.

Machine Drives and Control

  • Define the electrical drive concepts and go on to explain the most important details while maintaining a solid connection to the theory and design of the associated electrical machines. Also cover a number of industrial applications, investigation of electrical drives beyond theory to examine a number of practical aspects of electrical drive control and application.
Application of Electrical Machine in Industrial Practice
  • Provide participants with the fundamental knowledge of different types of electrical machines used in various industrial applications such as Oil& Gas, renewable energy etc..

Pratical Industrial Control System (Sensor-DCS-Motor)

  • A study on industrial sensors and actuators, industrial controllers such as computer-based control, programmable logic controller (PLC), distributed control systems (DCS), and interfacing. Current trends in Industrial and Factory automation will also be covered. The emphasized will be on the control systems aspects for FMS/plant control, the communication and system networking (e.g. fieldbus), and the FMS/plant systems components.

Advanced topic in Electrical Machine (IIoT and Intelligent System)

  • Exposure of intteligent system and IIoT for real time monitoring, supervision and control. The participants will be exposed with AI and the use of smart sensors to do predecition of  electrical machines and smart grids.

OBJECTIVES

At the end of this training program, participants will be able to:

  • To expose towards industrial machinery practices and design.
  • To enhance practical  and cognitive skills in adopting the technology in O&G and energy industries.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

  • Malaysian
  • Unemployed
  • Graduated From 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022
