INTRODUCTION
The course covers topics including the factors contributing to dust explosion and dust explosion parameters which measure explosion severity and ignition sensitivity such as dust deflagration index (Kst), maximum explosion overpressure (Pmax), minimum ignition energy (MIE), minimum explosible concentration (MEC), minimum ignition temperature (MIT) and layer ignition temperature (LIT). The course also introduces the laboratory testing for combustibility assessment of dust and includes simple demonstration of conducting the minimum ignition temperature testing.
