CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

Plant data are important for the purpose of monitoring, controlling, reporting, costing, improving and optimizing plant operation and performance. There is abundance of data being collected which often come with certain cost, however, only few being utilized for improving the performance and making right decision. Proper data acquisition, validation and analysis are critical for gaining the best values of those data collected. With good data quality and appropriate statistical analysis techniques, analyst and management can make proper decision based on sound evidence rather than intuition. This 3-day training course covers the fundamentals of data acquisition, validation and decision Analysis and their applications using Microsoft Excel. The course is conducted based on hands on through the use of industrial case studies.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) in order to gain insights on the issues and performances of the equipment or system under study.
  • Implement and analyse Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts and CUSUM charts to detect any deviation in the process either due to process deterioration or improvement.
  • Perform statistical analysis using hypothesis testing to assess whether the improvement seen is due to the improvement actions or by chance (not real improvement).
  • Perform strategic decision analysis using statistics and decision tree technique in situations of complex multistage decision problems involving uncertainty and risks.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

  • Anyone interested in Big Data.
  • Managers and Executives Engineers.
