CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

Malaysia like the rest of the world is facing a turbulent time with regards to recent COVID-19 and the huge impact on business organization at large. A report conducted by the world bank shows that Malaysia firms are hugely affected by the impact of COVID-19, which has left many to close down or lay off staffs. As a result, organizations are looking for employees who are not only resilient but can react and able to recover to new realties.

The ongoing impact of COVID-19 has exposed existing weak links across industries to economy at large. Thus, the urgency and importance of addressing the effect of the current COVID-19 impact has radically shifted many firms to require strategic decision makers who possess the planning agilities for turbulent times.

As Malaysian industrial sectors prepare to recover the economy in the post COVID-19 era, encouraging their graduates to pursue strategic decision programme will be vital to the entire industry, thus, this training will prepare the participants to sharpen their ability to think critically, logically, and help them to learn how to diagnose turbulent times scenarios from a strategic planning point of view.

Competitve Strategic Planning is designed to develop participants’ skills to be a successful manager with responsibility for the bottom line performance of a firm or business unit within an organization which is highly required skill for turbulent times.

The main objective of this program is to focus on providing opportunities for participants to develop strategic management skills through real world case analyses of turbulent times. Participants will also be trained on how to uphold leadership responsibilities and work with other people in teams and business organizations. Also, this training program intends to develop an awareness on the dynamic impact of strategic actions by the firm and its rivals on the business.

Finally, participants will be able to apply the basics knowledge and skills of strategic management’s action plan for running businesses, how to attract and please customers, how to compete successfully, and how to conduct operations in turbulent times.

1. Associate Professor Dr. Satirenjit K Johl  (UTP)

Associate Professor Dr. Satirenjit K Johl has been in the academic, research & consultancy field since 1992. She is currently with Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. Prior to that she was with Universiti Utara Malaysia. Dr. Johl has also served the corporate sector, namely IBM, Boustead Holdings and Malaysian Professional Centre. She obtained her Doctorate in Philosophy (Business) from University of Nottingham, U.K and Master’s in Human Resource Management from Universiti Utara Malaysia. She is also a certified trainer from the Institute of Personnel and Development, U.K. She has conducted several training programs for multinational companies i.e. IBM, Boustead Holdings and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS in the areas of Quality, Entrepreneurship and Human Resource. She has received several awards from International bodies for Best Dissertation awarded by British Aerospace and Loughborough University, U.K. She has received the Hariram Jayaran special award and Gold award in the 23rd International Invention Innovation & Technology Exhibition.
