INTRODUCTION
A large amount of wastewater is generated as a result of population growth, cities expansions and industrial development. The objective of wastewater treatment is to remove polluting material so that the treated water can be released safely back into the environment.
The biological wastewater treatment system is one of technology uses microbes to purify wastewater. Wastewater basically holds organic substances, and it is also containing, in many instances, heavy metals, toxins, and pathogenic organisms. These microorganisms break down the organic impurities and nutrients, thus removing it by treatment systems, typically activated sludge systems.
This course will equip the participants with the ability to familiarize with the basic wastewater parameters in biological wastewater treatment system. It will also cover the operation and maintenance as well as troubleshooting of activated sludge treatment systems.
Lecture Session
Participants will be described on the theory, background, and objectives related to water quality equipment in the lecture room. Basic understanding is needed to gain knowledge in handling, calibration and maintaining tools.
Hands-on Session
Participants are required to carry out practical activities on their own to understand more about their knowledge and skills in handling, calibration and maintaining tools
after learning in the lecture room. This activity will turn their theoretical understanding into practical and experienced in real analysis. The instructor will explain the correct technique and correct the mistakes made by the participants.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
