CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

HyperWorks is a market-leading, multi-disciplinary finite element pre-processor which manages the generation of the largest, most complex models, starting with the import of a CAD geometry to exporting ready-to-run solver file.  In this course, participants will learn how to use the CAD geometry and create the numerical mesh model for simulation of linear and non linear problems. The participants can also apply the same general concept to learn different finite element commercial software.

OUR TRAINER

1. Associate Professor Ir Dr Mokhtar Awang (UTP)

He is an Associate Professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering and currently, a Head of Computational Modeling Reability Engineering and Asset Management (CmREAM) under Institute of Transport Infrastructure (ITI), Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. He is a Chairman of ASME Malaysia Section and was a member under Board of Engineers Malaysia (2008-2010). He holds a PhD (2007) and a MSc (1994) in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University, USA. While he obtained his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from University of Detroit Mercy, USA. He has also organized International Conference on Mechanical, Manufacturing and Process Plant Engineering (ICMMPE) from year 2015 to 2019.

2. Dr Mohamed Latheef  (UTP)

Dr Mohamed Latheef is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. He achieved a first class honours in MEng Civil Engineering at Imperial College London. He followed this with a PhD in Civil Engineering Fluid Mechanics on the topic of surface wave statistics in directional sea states. During his PhD, he participated and contributed to two major Joint Industry Projects (JIPS); CreST and ShortCreST. In addition, he has provided consultancy for major oil and gas players. His current research is mainly focused on free surface flow modelling with a specialisation in pseudo-spectral models. In addition to this main interest, he is also interested in analysis of field data and wave-structure interaction. He has also provided consultancy and training in MetOcean for oil and gas clients in Malaysia.

3. Dr. Nabihah Sallih  (UTP)

Dr. Nabihah Sallih is a lecturer at Department of Mechanical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP). She completed her Bachelor of Engineering (1st class honours) at The University of Auckland, New Zealand and obtained her PhD from the Centre for Advanced Composite Materials, The University of Auckland in 2016. She is one of the technical experts in Altair-UTP Centre of Excellence and key figure in Surface Science and Materials (SSMAT) Nexus. Her areas of research interest include polymeric-based composites and vibration of piping using both experimentation and computational modeling.
