CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

This course is designed to provide an overview of computer simulation in process engineering, including the key steps in a simulation approach. It provides examples on how to solve problems of specific types, including main unit operations such as pumps, compressors, distillation column and reactors. Moreover this course will also help to increase the expertise of participants in developing complete process model of typical process industries such as Crude oil and gas processing etc.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • The participant will get an easy-to-follow guide on familiarizing themselves with process simulation packages and simulation environment.
  • The participant will learn how to simulate various unit operations such pressure changing equipment, heat transfer equipment, separation equipment and reaction system.
  • The participant will learn a how to make complete flowsheet in simulation environment using various hand on exercises.

OUR TRAINERS

1. Associate Professor Dr. Haslinda Zabiri  (UTP)

Dr Haslinda Zabiri received her PhD degree in Process Systems Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS specializing in advanced process control. Her current interests include modelling, control, monitoring and diagnostics of industrial process systems using machine learning based methods. She has developed fault detection and diagnosis techniques for monitoring industrial process control loops. She is currently an Associate Professor and the Program Manager for MSc in Process Integration (by Coursework) in Chemical Engineering Department at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS.

2. Associate Professor Dr Syed Ali (UTP)

AP Dr Syed Ali current position as Assistant Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, NED University of Engineering & Technology, Pakistan and Member of IChemE and IEEE.Dr Syed Ali Ammar Taqvi obtained Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia, in January 2020. He is an Associate Member of IChemE, Member of IChemE and IEEE.His area of expertise is on Process Modeling and Simulation, Fault Detection and Diagnosis using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Algorithms, Modeling, Simulation and Control of CO2 Capture Systems, Multivariate statistical methods for monitoring and diagnostics of industrial process systems & Predictive Analytics in renewable systems.
