CONTENT SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

This course will explain the multi-facets of offshore structural development and the challenging ocean environment in which these structures operate. The first part of the course will explore the details of the ocean environment, which also highlights the vastness of the world's oceans. In the second segment, the focus shifts to environmental forces that impact offshore structures, including waves, wind, and currents. Also, on their pivotal role in shaping structural analysis and design. Subsequently, the transition leads us to framed offshore structural analysis, which relies on a profound understanding of site characteristics, and static analysis techniques, which is crucial for ensuring structural stability. The course also will explain dynamic analyses underpinned by finite element applications, helping us interpret the complex interactions between waves and structures. Lastly, a laboratory demonstration will take place. The laboratory tests are important for experimental validation, which are contributing to the refinement of design standards and the assurance of structural stability in the face of challenging oceanic conditions. This course will provide an advance knowledge on offshore platforms design, which covers the influence of environmentalforces, and structural static and dynamic stability.
